Brandon’s lovely wife, Sheryl, is also incredibly gifted. That girl can sing like an absolute angel and has also begun her own floral design business. The incredible Amanda of Amanda Vickers & Cumberland Basin is truly one of the most beautiful, talented and all-around genuine people I have ever met. It was such a blast working with her and her team of stylists, Audry & Alana. The day after we met to shoot the 40’s images, we met again to shoot a more casual look. And once again, she rocked my camera’s world!  Amanda, you are awesome and I hope you and Geof love these as much as I do!

This gorgeousness is Amanda Vickers, the amazing voice of Amanda Vickers & Cumberland Basin, a fabulous local band known for performing a fun mix of jazz standards, blues, and western swing. When Amanda contacted me about shooting some photos for their upcoming website, my first reaction was utter and abject fear. ME? Seriously? Then she began to talk with me about her vision for a 1940’s-inspired urban shoot and my brain began to whirl and I knew that we were going to make a GREAT team! And speaking of team, Amanda had two stylists that worked with her and I can say from firsthand experience that these girls are AMAZING. I’ll tell you everything you need to know about them, and about the band, at the end of the post – but for now…let’s get right to the vintage G L A M, shall we?  Awww, yeah….

Can you even stand it? I think we should all stop, take a moment and say a collective prayer for Geof, Amanda’s darling husband, who is most likely either hyperventilating or passed out right now. 

And if he wasn’t then, he most certainly is now!

I really have no words for how awesome it was working with Amanda and her stylists Audry & Alana. We had such a blast wandering around looking for unexpected spots to stop and get sassy! Amanda knew exactly what she wanted and she came ready to make it happen. It was just like on So You Think You Can Dance when the judges say a performer left his or her heart on the dance floor. {That’s usually the point where I am weeping uncontrollably.} Amanda absolutely left her heart on the streets of downtown Nashville. And just look at her results!

I can not recommend Amanda Vickers & Cumberland Basin enough. Amanda’s voice is angelic and she performs with some of the BEST musicians in Nashville. You thought I was done? Are you kidding? Around here, the goodness never stops! I’ll have lots more Amanda coming up soon. Our little team got together again for some casuals of the lovely Miss A. You won’t want to miss it. And next up – a sweet, sweet family with beautiful twin girls who are very dear to my heart! Thanks for checking in, everyone. It humbles me!

As I mentioned in my last post, I joined up with Phillip and his buddy Frank at a local park for some business head shots. Frank’s turned out fabulously, but Phillip and I quickly realized that the dark suit look just wasn’t for him. We got home, reviewed the images and just knew that we needed to start from scratch. When I shoot, it is always my goal to capture the essence of a person. To capture what makes them who they are. We put our heads together and decided that both a wardrobe and location change were in order. Thankfully, we both had a pretty open afternoon, so we hopped in  the car and headed downtown – one of our favorite places to go when we get some time to ourselves. And thank goodness we did! It’s amazing to me how, when people are true to who they are – when they don’t try to look like or be like someone else – they literally come alive in front of the camera. This was definitely the case for Phillip and me that day. The difference in his “black suit shots” and these images is monumental. This is the Phillip I see everyday. The Phillip who loves and serves his family tirelessly. Who enjoys his career in real estate all the way down to his bones – simply because he gets to have a part in helping people realize a dream. 

We definitely went a little outside the box of traditional head shots. Some of these I snapped just for fun because I wanted to celebrate him and this exciting time in his life. I love every single one of them for different reasons. I hope you do, too. So leave Phillip some comment love, and let him know!

Just kidding, of course. Actually, they’re really just a couple of Circus Clowns:

OK, OK.. so I’m kidding again. In complete honesty, these two dapper gentlemen are Realtors with Keller Williams Real Estate in Green Hills. And it just so happens that I am married to the one on the right. When Phillip asked me if I would mind shooting some business head shots of him and his buddy Frank from the office, how could I say no? My only stipulation was that they let me do it MY way – no backdrops, no cheesy smiles, and certainly no flash. We headed to a local park to capture what I hoped would be images that both fellas could use for their websites and marketing materials that would capture their personalities and visually set them apart from every other Realtor in town. I have to say, I’m pleased. I mean, I’d hire Frank in a heartbeat, wouldn’t you? (Don’t answer that, because if you are reading this and are in need of a Realtor, I really hope you’ll call Phillip. Sorry, Frank- I have a child to feed!)
