Oh my. I don’t really even have words for how magical it is to spend time with this precious girl! Baby Harper is the daughter of my sweet friend Elizabeth, who is the sister of my dear college friend Deron. (I love how this job connects me to people!) I met Elizabeth back in 1995 – while she was still a young’un – when my college roommate and I went on a skiing trip with a group of friends, rode with Deron and ended up making a pit stop by his home in Indiana to pick up some supplies. Do you follow? Crazy I know, but it has been so great reconnecting with Elizabeth on Facebook and now in person with her sweet baby girl.
The day we were scheduled to shoot, I made my way over to Elizabeth’s house under sunny skies. We started outside, but were being rained on after about 5 minutes. I really didn’t have a back-up plan, so we did my favorite thing and improvised! We moved some rugs, rearranged some furniture and sat up shop in the kitchen in front of some huge windows. Elizabeth was so great to just roll with it and let me just do my thing. And Harper – well, Harper was AMAZING the whole time I was shooting. And then the most incredible thing happened. Harper started getting fussy because she was ready to eat and take a nap. As I am always telling people, I believe the best photos come from real-life moments, so I just kept on shooting as Elizabeth made a bottle and sweet Miss Harper finally drifted on off to sleep. I am so in love with all of Harper’s photos that I had a really hard time picking just a few to share, but those images that were spontaneous and tender and REAL – those are the ones that really make my heart swell up.
Elizabeth – Thank you for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture such a sweet time with your beautiful Harper. I can not wait to see you again and show you the rest of the photos!
