the denny family: a not-so-sneak peek!

You know how you have those people in your life who just make you better simply by knowing them? It’s like they complete a little part of you that would otherwise remain empty? Jenni is one of those people for me. Jenni is my girl. And it makes me so sad to think that in a couple of months my girl (and my boys – the big one she is married to, and the two little ones) are moving away from me. Phillip, Jenni’s husband has accepted a job out-of-state and while I am elated for them, I am very sad for me – for my entire family – as we will all miss them so much!

Back in October of 2008, Jenni asked me to take photos of her family for their Christmas cards. I was honored – and a little bit terrified. I had never really taken photos for anyone besides my own family and I wanted so badly to do a good job for her. I was very blessed that Jenni and her boys all knew just what to do. They never looked at me like I was crazy, no matter what I asked of them. They were spontaneous, playful & fun. Mostly, they were themselves, which is the single best thing you can be during a photo shoot. When Jenni saw her photos and gushed praise, encouraging me to pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer, I never would have thought at the time that it would be the Defining Moment for me. Her support, her encouragement, her friendship – They were the push I needed to finally trust in my own vision and abilities. So Jenni – Thank you. Thank you for being such an important part of my life – 10 years ago, now, and 10 years (20 years, 30 years…) from now. I love you. And I hope you enjoy your not-so-sneek-peek…I threw some new ones in for you. Yay for Photoshop!
